Event Loss of Cultural Heritage

Having just finished our workshop on the loss of cultural heritage today, we want to thank all the participants in person and online, as well as all the people that presented. The presentations addressed various aspects of relevance regarding cultural heritage and its loss today, as well as new forms of such a heritage that are emerging today. 

We were very happy in choosing our speakers, in person and online, that they included individuals in their twenties and upwards in age. This combination of youth and established experience created an environment which allowed for positive interaction and spontaneously vibrant discussion groups.

The combination of written content with visual images delivered an environment where people were totally involved in the dynamics of the different topics brought to light. In having created a more informal presentation format where speakers presented with an emphasis on visual imagery, the very looser format of the event gave an interesting atmosphere that everyone involved enjoyed, and a new way of expressing content that took away from the conventional static presentation mode.

Ideal Spaces is happy to report that our in person and online participation reached a new level. In having had speakers from multiple countries and cultures, including India, Ireland, the UK, France, USA, Pakistan, Italy, Belgium and Switzerland, amongst others, this created a truly international experience.

The event was lifestreamed worldwide and we will be presenting over coming months actual segments of the entire event on our website at https://www.idealspaces.org/projects/loss-of-cultural-heritage/, as well as on all our social media platforms.

Podcasts

During our workshop, we were able to tape several new podcasts in our new format of having group discussion, bringing more involvement by including multiple participants. These included group discussions on cultural loss and the effect of algorithms used in social media and AI on present day society. Besides that, Ideal Spaces will continue with our original interview format.

We have also released a new podcast on our German website, in addressing problems of housing in Europe, with possible solutions.

We have also released a podcast with Anna de Jong on the effects of tourism on local communities and their identity, as well as a podcast with Miriam Samir Rincon on how to preserve an alive cultural heritage as a lifeworld in Mexico City. We had a podcast with Natasha Sharma on the cockroach movement in India.

We will release further podcasts on the loss of cultural heritage, such as Taimoor Khan from Pakistan, Irit Katz from the UK, BBC commentator Haydn Price from UK/Ireland. In Addition, we had a podcast with Dato Norman Abdul Halim from Malaysia, on the work he is doing with his foundation with youth and its education. Norman’s foundation is becoming an affiliate of Ideal Spaces.
