International Association of Space Semiotics: Heterotopia and the Semiotics of Cultural Landscape.

Ideal Spaces team member Yulia Leonova will be presenting at next meeting of the International Association of Space Semiotics with a presentation entitled: ‘Three otherness of Ibirapuera park in São Paulo: deciphering Roberto Burle Marx’s project’.

This conference will be considering issues of the cultural landscape as a symbolic system, heterotopias as emergent marks in the context of this system, and the problem of visual representation of these signs and systems in art and architecture. 


Yulia participated in the meeting of the International Association of Space Semiotics in Moscow Academy of Arts with a presentation entitled: ‘Three otherness of Ibirapuera park in São Paulo: deciphering Roberto Burle Marx’s project’. She described the Ibirapuera Park as one of the Worlds made by Ideal Spaces team for the Exhibition in Venice 2018. To the presented topic of the highly semiotized space produced by the Brazilian architects and cultural promoters, President of the IASSp+T Pierre Pellegrino, added his considerations about the level of violent crimes in the country striking contrasting to the intentions of the new national identity developers.
